Overall Role Description: Provide grading, student‑support, and limited teaching assistance across the courses listed below while gaining hands‑on experience in educational design, assessment, and small‑group instruction. Exact course coverage dependent on experience.

Term-by-Term Course Coverage

  • Fall:
    • Clinical Biochemistry I (BS511 – In-person & Online)
    • Evidence Informed Practice I (CE516 – In-person & Online)
    • Immunology and Microbiology (CM699 – In-person)
  • Winter:
    • Clinical Biochemistry II (BS521 – In-person & Online)
    • Fundamentals of Pharmacology (CS520 – In-person & Online)
    • Evidence Informed Practice for Pre-Health Professionals (NS421 – In-person)
  • Spring:
    • Evidence Informed Practice (CM599 – In-person)

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Grading and Feedback – Score quizzes, homework assignments, and exams using provided rubrics. Enter grades into Moodle. Provide timely, constructive feedback.
  2. Student Support – Monitor discussion boards (if present), answer routine content questions, and alert instructor to at-risk learners.
  3. Review Sessions (Biochemistry only) – Organize optional exam-review sessions
  4. Course Management – Upload materials, manage Moodle settings, and help maintain grade book accuracy.
  5. Assessment Support – Assist with assessment analysis, academic honesty checks, and, when needed, exam proctoring.
  6. Weekly Check-Ins – Attend regularly scheduled 30-minute meeting with instructor to plan tasks and coordinate.
  7. Professional Conduct – Maintain confidentiality, model inclusive language, and comply with all FERPA and FWS regulations.

Qualifications:

General Qualifications:

  • FWS Eligibility: Must hold a 2025‑26 FWS award and be enrolled at NUNM in good academic standing.
  • Academic Background: Completed the specific course(s) or equivalent with a final grade of B or higher. Experience in all courses is not required or expected, but a minimum of two courses would be ideal.
  • Strong written communication, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with Moodle and Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Availability 5–10 hrs/week

Preferred Extras:

  • Prior tutoring or TA experience
  • Advanced training in any of the subject areas above
