NUNM offers free in-house counseling to students. Services include individual, relationship and group therapy to support students in their academic success and overall wellness. In some instances, more intensive or specialized services may be indicated. Counseling staff will work with you to make sure your needs are met. This may involve referral to community resources outside of NUNM. The Counseling Center is staffed by the Director of Counseling Services, the Assistant Director and counseling interns.
What is Counseling?
While counseling is not a “quick-fix” for problems, it is a place to explore feelings, thoughts and concerns as well as examine options and goals. Counseling is an opportunity to talk things over with an objective professional.
Counseling services can help with:
- Personal growth
- School/life balance
- Stress management
- Grief and loss
- Relationship issues
- Addiction issues
- Family concerns
- Eating disorders
- And more…
Counseling sessions and files are confidential, reviewed only by the counselor and clinical supervisor. Information revealed during a counseling session is not released outside the Counseling Center without written consent, except as required by state law.
