Teaching Assistants (TAs) in Physical Diagnosis Labs play a vital role in supporting first- and second-year students as they develop foundational clinical examination skills. Working under the supervision of the lead faculty instructor, TAs will assist in guiding small-group practice sessions during the Summer Intensive and throughout the clinical skills lab series. The focus of this role is to provide real-time, supportive feedback during hands-on learning activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise and support student practice of physical exam maneuvers in the classroom setting
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students during lab sessions
- Attend class presentations and faculty demonstrations in advance of student practice time
- Review assigned material in Bates’ Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking and course handouts prior to each lab session
- Help model appropriate clinical technique and professional conduct
- Collaborate with faculty to maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:
- Fourth-year ND student in good academic standing
- Demonstrated proficiency and confidence in performing physical examination techniques
- Familiarity with the structure and expectations of NUNM’s clinical skills curriculum
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to mentor peers through feedback and modeling
- Dependable and punctual, with the ability to commit to scheduled lab sessions and preparation time
