As a care team assistant, your role in this team is to function as a medical assistant. Duties of the clinical work-study student include the following tasks when assigned by the provider:
- Assist with communication management including managing forwarded voicemail, patient test notification, medication refills and patient advice requests.
- Assist with referral follow up
- Prior authorization management for medications and durable medical equipment
- Proactive health maintenance/care gap outreach
- Chart scrubbing and pre-visit planning
- Assistance with improving clinical quality metrics
- Assistance with case management, tracking of outstanding labs, and outreach when follow up visits are needed
- Assist with population management/improvement and outreach
- Opportunity to participate in Care Team Huddles

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be third year ND student or higher. Will consider other applications with relevant medical experience. Expectations include:
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Comfort with utilizing medical resources including Epocrates, UpToDate etc.
- Ability to recall/find management per disease protocols
- Reliable
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Organizational skills
- Competency with EPIC
- Ability to come to campus during assigned clinic shifts for support
