Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable work-study student to assist with various tasks in our NUNM Lair Hill Clinic’s Lab. This role will involve supporting laboratory functions, learning key administrative skills, and assisting with specimen processing and order entry. Ideal candidates have completed a hematology venipuncture lab and be eager to expand their skills in clinical and organizational tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Specimen Processing: Assist with the processing and handling of biological specimens. This may include tasks such as labeling, sorting, storing, and preparing specimens for analysis.
- Order Entry: Learn and assist with the process of entering orders into our system, ensuring that all required information is accurately recorded.
- Laboratory Support: Provide assistance in the lab, ensuring that procedures are properly followed and that the environment remains clean and organized.
- Venipuncture Assistance: May assist with or observe venipuncture procedures, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards, dependent on prior training in the hematology venipuncture lab.
- Organizational Tasks: Perform general administrative and organizational duties, including filing, data entry, taking down phone messages, and helping with maintaining inventory and supplies.
- Additional Tasks: Support the department with any other administrative, clinical, or processing tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Enthusiastic about learning new clinical and administrative tasks.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must be a current student enrolled in the Naturopathic Doctorate Program.
Preferred Skills (but not required):
Completed hematology venipuncture lab.
Experience in order entry or specimen processing.
Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical laboratory procedures.
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
